by Jean-Louis Leimbacher, Hôtel du Palais' Manager until 2015, they began with six craftsmen including a painter-decorator, two upholsterers, two dressmakers, and a cabinetmaker. Their name refers to their street, not far from the hotel.
About 15 years ago, well before joining Ateliers Folin. Various decorators in Paris initially trained me in all interior decoration techniques, even the very oldest. I then set up my own firm. Once on the Côte Basque, I took over Christian Gosse's workshop. The hotel was one of his clients.
In 2018, I was made "Meilleur Ouvrier de France" in decorative painting. The media praised my work, and the Eiffage Group entrusted me with decorative painting for the hotel: frescoes, "trompe-l’oeil", fake marble, wood…
Yes. During the renovation, an opening made in the hall rested on 2 reinforced plaster columns. I made them look like green Campan marble. I also produced "trompe-l'oeil" on the lift of honour's doors, on all 5 floors.
I and my colleague Cécile Brisson preserve the hotel's original decor: restoration work, repairing wear and tear, redoing the gilding… Today, I perfected fake wood furnishings in a bedroom. Everything must always be impeccable. Luckily, we have two more painters, Fodé and Frédéric.
