Vincent Poulingue, General Manager of Hôtel du Palais

Placing excellence and experiences at the heart of each stay, the General Manager of Hôtel du Palais welcomes guests with tailormade hospitality.
Your career in a few words?

Always fascinated by the hotel world, I wanted to be a Hotel Director from an early age, which meant being a good manager. So, after attending a hotel college, I studied finance. I began my career as Management Supervisor then Financial Director with the Barrière Group before joining the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) with whom I have been General Manager in hotels around the world.

How do you define a luxury hotel?

We propose rooms of exceptional comfort but, above all, an exclusive, tailormade experience delivered by our teams through attentive, bespoke service. Their rare know-how ensures unforgettable moments in our restaurant, our Guerlain Spa, and our summer club. The setting and location are also vital factors. We benefit from unique historic heritage and a spectacular site overlooking the ocean.

Development strategies you pursue?

We focus in particular on our carbon footprint. I also want to integrate the hotel more in the local community. The people of Biarritz already love our Sunday brunch! Enhancing the client experience, enriching our leisure proposals, and opening up our hotel on the international scene are also priorities. Not forgetting, of course, essential training for the teams.

Your ideal basque day?

It starts with coffee and bread with tomato on the Old Port, then a cultural visit before lunch on the go in the lively Marché des Halles. Afternoon on the beach or in the hinterland, then an aperitif on the Hotel's terrace at sunset: a very memorable spectacle!
