Interview with Babette Bioret

Playing her part at the Hôtel du Palais for over 20 years, Babette Bioret has never ceased to marvel at the gem of the Côte Basque.
How did you join the Hôtel du Palais?

I come from Nantes, where I began my hotel career. I then seized the opportunity to work on Reception at the Hôtel du Palais, which had contacted me to join its sales department. 23 years later, I am still here, as Assistant Sales Manager.

What types of events do you organize at the hotel?

We host both private occasions such as birthdays and weddings, and professional events such as seminars and gala dinners. Then, during these events, our hotel can be fully privatized, which is a real advantage. It allows us to hold cocktail buffet parties in the lobby or dinners in La Rotonde. The hotel also proposes six drawing-rooms, including the Salon Impérial, once the Emperor’s ballroom with its winter garden and superb restored paintings by Paul Gervais.

What makes the Hôtel du Palais unique?

Its prestigious past and emblematic architecture which leaves an impression on everyone’s minds. It is also the only Palace Hotel on the Atlantic Coast. Our teams are also, of course, a considerable asset, recognized for their professionalism and expertise. It is they who make guests’ experiences truly exceptional.

What are the ingredients of a successful event?

In my opinion, it is of prime importance to step into the clients’ shoes, understand their aims and expectations, and anticipate their needs. Clear, transparent communication is essential to build a relationship based on trust. It is then up to us to adapt to any unforeseen circumstances and meet last-minute requests… always with a warm smile!

The event forever engraved in your memory?

No doubt about it, the G7 in 2019. Hosting the inauguration dinner for this 4-day summit, bringing together as many heads of state, was a truly memorable experience.
